If you are in Ibiza this weekend, the island is quietly doing what it does best in October: slowing down, spreading out and filling the calendar with things that have nothing to do with queues or guest lists. This Ibiza weekend guide for 9–11 October 2026 brings together a four-day cycling event, the opening of the Cala de Bou fiestas, a free contemporary art weekend, a night of stargazing and some of the best markets on the island. Most of it is free, and all of it is easy to reach.
Roads, Rides and Race Day: The Vuelta Cicloturista a Ibiza
From 9 to 12 October, the XXIII Vuelta Cicloturista a Ibiza Campagnolo turns the island's back roads into a four-day road-cycling stage race. It starts in Sant Antoni and loops through all five municipalities, combining timed sections with an individual time trial, and it is open to riders of all abilities. In past years it has even drawn Tour de France winners to the start line.
You do not need to pedal to enjoy it. Autumn is the best time of year to watch cycling in Ibiza: the heat has gone, the light is soft and the pine-covered hills of the north and the long coastal roads of the south look their best. Pick a village on the route, grab a coffee and watch the peloton roll through. Registration and route details are on ibizabtt.com. If you are driving, allow extra time and expect short rolling road closures.
Cala de Bou and Port des Torrent Open Their Fiestas
Village fiestas are where you meet the real Ibiza, and this weekend the honour goes to Cala de Bou and Port des Torrent. The programme kicks off on Thursday 8 October at 20:30 at the Auditori Caló de s'Oli, where the Ibiza String Ensemble accompanies the opening of Transiciones, an exhibition of paintings by César Sánchez. Entry is free.
On Friday 9 October at 20:00 the fiestas officially begin with the opening address from the Cala de Bou Women's Association, followed by a concert from the duo A mi aire under the fiesta marquee. It is a warm, local affair: neighbours, families, folding chairs and good humour. Stay for dinner nearby. The restaurant Clab in Cala de Bou has live jazz that evening with singer and pianist Abby Pianoman from 20:30, and the Coral Star apartments host the soul, rock and pop covers of Music 4 Life from 21:00, open to non-guests too.
A Free Art Weekend and a Chamber Music Evening
Ibiza's art season is in full swing, and this weekend has something for every taste. Lotus Art in Motion (10–11 October) brings around 20 artists from 15 countries to Mondrian Ibiza and Hyde Ibiza, with painting, sculpture, photography, digital art, music and visual installations. Entry is free, so it is an easy way to spend a Saturday afternoon.
For something quieter, head to the Centre Cultural des Puig d'en Valls, where Sara Michela Morello's Arte en el instante opens on 9 October and runs until 23 October. Her drawings capture the landscapes, corners and moments of Ibiza and Formentera. It is free and open Monday to Friday, 8:30–14:00 and 16:00–20:00. In Santa Eulària, Carlos Jacanamijoy's Naturaleza interior continues at Fundación La Nave Salinas until 11 October, free from 12:00 to 20:00.
On Friday evening at 20:30, Can Ventosa in Ibiza Town hosts Sonatas i Cançons, a monographic chamber music concert of works by Ibizan composer Miquel À. Roig-Francolí, with soprano Irantzu Bartolomé and Trio Iboshim, including a Spanish premiere. Tickets are around €10, so check with the venue before you go.
Dalt Vila, Dark Skies and a Geology Day
Saturday is made for exploring. In Ibiza Town, the council's heritage itineraries and the visitas teatralizadas (theatrical visits) guide you through Dalt Vila's walls, lanes and centuries of history. Both are free, but check the Ibiza Town Council programme for times and booking. If you have never walked the old town with a guide who brings it to life, this is the weekend.
At night, look up. The Consell d'Eivissa and the Agrupación Astronómica de Ibiza are running their Noche de estrellas observation evenings from Cala d'Hort, one of the darkest, most dramatic spots on the island, with Es Vedrà rising from the sea in front of you. Bring a jumper and a flask of something warm.
Nature lovers should also note the II Jornada Geològica des Amunts on Saturday morning at the Centre d'Interpretació es Amunts, with workshops and an exhibition on the island's geology. It is free but requires advance registration.
Markets, Sunsets and Sport
No Ibiza weekend is complete without a market. On Friday morning the Mercat de Sa Cooperativa in Santa Eulària sells local fruit, vegetables, cheese, wine and crafts. On Saturday, the Mercadillo de Sant Jordi starts at 8:00 with vintage clothes, antiques and second-hand finds, and the Mercado de Forada in Sant Antoni runs from 10:00 to 16:00 with local produce and sobrasada.
For sunset, Café del Mar in Sant Antoni continues its free nightly Sunset Sessions from 18:00 with ambient and Balearic sounds. Sports fans can also catch the Mini Open Tennis tournament at Ibiza Country Club in Sant Josep, with trials on Friday and the tournament following on Saturday.
Practical Tips for the Weekend
- Book ahead for guided visits, the geology day and the stargazing evenings. Places are limited.
- Bring layers. October evenings can be cool once the sun goes down, especially near the coast.
- Check times. Many free events are organised by local councils, and schedules can shift. Always confirm on the official programme.
- Drive carefully around the Vuelta route and leave extra time on Saturday and Sunday mornings.
