Village Fiestas, Open-Water Swims and a Free Walk Through Dalt Vila: Ibiza 5–11 October 2026

Village fiestas in Cala de Bou, open-water swim crossings on the north coast, a free heritage walk through Dalt Vila and live music in village bars every night. Here is everything happening in Ibiza between 5 and 11 October 2026 — and almost all of it is free.

The visitors have mostly gone home, the sea is still warm enough for a long swim, and the island has handed its calendar back to the people who live here. This is the part of the year when Ibiza stops performing and simply gets on with things: a village throws its fiestas, a tent goes up by the sea, a brass band plays in a square, and nobody charges you for any of it. If you are looking for Ibiza events this week, between Monday 5 and Sunday 11 October 2026 the island is busier than it looks — you just have to know where the noise is coming from.

Two threads run through the week. The fiestas of Cala de Bou and Port des Torrent open on Thursday and roll through to Sunday with concerts, an exhibition, a market and a rock-and-roll train. MARNATON eDreams Ibiza, the open-water swim festival, takes over the north coast from Friday. Around them sits a thick layer of free culture: heritage walks, art fairs, chamber music, stargazing and the island's best-kept secret — the live music circuit in its village bars.

Monday to Wednesday: The Quiet Half of the Week

Early in the week the island exhales. It is the best time to do the things that are impossible in August.

The Biblioteca Pública Insular d'Eivissa, inside the Cas Serres cultural centre, runs a free five-session creative writing workshop from Monday 5 to Friday 9 October, led by Ibizan novelist José Morella, winner of the Café Gijón prize for West End. Sessions start at 18:00, no experience needed — a rare chance to sit in a room with local writers.

Tuesday brings two of my favourite low-key evenings of the autumn. At Cala Escondida, the chiringuito at the far southern end of Platja d'en Bossa near the Torre des Carregador, singer-guitarist Moe plays on the sand from 18:30 until the light goes — the bar is only open until the 25th, so the window is closing. Then at 21:00, Lovely Laura & Ben Santiago bring their saxophone set to Café Mambo in Sant Antoni, one of seven Tuesday nights across September and October. Free, and easy to stack after the nightly Café del Mar Sunset Session next door, which starts at 18:00.

Wednesday 7 October is World Mental Health Day, and Ibiza marks it properly. At Teatro Pereyra from 18:00, APFEM hosts Talking Saves Lives with health communicator Miguel Assal, a short film screening and an open discussion. In Santa Eulària, the Teatre Espanya screens the documentary Donde Brotamos at 19:00. Both free.

Thursday 8 October: A Fiesta Opens, a Season Closes

Thursday is the hinge of the week. At the Auditori Caló de s'Oli, the Cala de Bou fiestas programme opens the exhibition Transiciones – Vacío, aquel lugar que lo precede todo, paintings by César Sánchez, with a live performance by the Ibiza String Ensemble at 20:30. Free, and an unusually good pairing of art and music for a village programme.

The same night, Las Dalias in Sant Carles closes its 2026 live concert season with Pepe y Vizio, a flamenco-and-rap project from southern Spain that works far better live than it sounds on paper. Doors at 20:00, tickets €25 — the last live night at Las Dalias until the next cycle.

If you would rather pay nothing, Thursday is the fullest night on the island's free bar circuit. Can Jordi Blues Station on the Sant Josep road hosts Crossroad for blues, rock and pop at 19:00. Tribu near es Pouet has rumba duo Los del Varadero from 20:00. Cas Costas in Sant Jordi dedicates the evening to tango with Mano a Mano. And the courtyard at Racó Verd, beside the Sant Josep church, has Anna & Ainvar playing pop and rock covers at 20:30. All free, all local, all within half an hour of each other.

Friday 9 October: Swimmers, Sailors and Stargazers

The XXXVII Jornades Nàutiques Pitiuses sets off at 10:00 from Marina Ibiza, a three-stage ORC cruiser regatta linking Ibiza, Formentera and Sant Antoni, with trophies on Sunday evening. Free to watch from the harbour wall.

In the north, MARNATON eDreams Ibiza opens with a gentle sea-acclimatisation clinic from 16:00 at Port de Sant Miquel — technique tips for open water, €10, and a good idea if you have never raced in the sea. At 20:00 the pregón of the Cala de Bou and Port des Torrent fiestas is read by the local women's association, followed by the duo A mi aire in the main tent.

The quietest and probably loveliest thing happening all week is on the other island: Formentera Mira al Cel at 21:00, a free public stargazing night with telescopes, built around the fact that Formentera has some of the darkest skies in the Mediterranean. Bring a jacket.

Also opening that day in Puig d'en Valls: Arte en el instante, Sara Michela Morello's free exhibition of Ibiza and Formentera drawings, until 23 October.

Saturday 10 October: The Island's Busiest Day

The MARNATON eDreams crossings are the headline. Three distances start on Saturday morning along the north coast: 8 km from Cala Xarraca at 09:00, 4 km from Es Caló de s'Illa at 11:00 and 2 km from Cala Benirràs at 12:00, all finishing at Port de Sant Miquel. Watching hundreds of swimmers come ashore at Benirràs is one of the better free spectacles of the Ibiza autumn.

In Ibiza Town at 10:30, the Ajuntament's Itineraris Patrimonials programme runs Els orígens de Dalt Vila, a free guided heritage walk leaving from the MACE contemporary art museum. Limited spaces, in Catalan, and the best way to understand the walls you have been photographing all week.

Elsewhere: Cala de Bou Express, the beloved "rock train" that tours the bars of Cala de Bou stopping wherever live music is playing, starts at 13:00 — past editions have drawn over 4,000 people — and the day closes with a Queen Forever Tribute at the Auditori Caló de s'Oli at 21:00. At Mondrian & Hyde in Cala Llonga, Lotus Art in Motion 2026 brings 60 original works by 20 artists from 15 countries (Saturday is the professional preview; Sunday opens to everyone, both free). Mini Open Tennis Ibiza fills the Ibiza Country Club in Sant Josep with 32 amateur teams, DJs and no entry fee, and Sant Antoni runs a free Nordic walking route at Torrent des Fornas from 10:00 (poles handed out beforehand while they last). On Formentera, the Festes del Pilar de la Mola begin: three days of ball pagès, market stalls and tradition in the island's highest village.

For sunset, head west: Barahmji & Medusa Odyssey play the season finale at Sunset Cala Conta from 19:00 — Persian santur meets flute, guitar and synths. Free, and the last one of the year.

Sunday 11 October: Museums, Strings and Flamenco

The MACE throws open its doors from 10:30 for World Day of Friends of Museums, with free activities all morning. At 19:00, the V Festival de Música de Cámara de Santa Eulària opens at the Centre Cultural de Jesús with the Marí-Herrera duo and cellist Mónica Marí — free, and it continues through October.

Cala de Bou's fiestas finish in style with an artisan market, children's activities, workshops and dance exhibitions through the day, ending with a concert and dancing from flamenco group Querencia at 21:00. If you prefer something smaller, El Kiosco in Cala de Bou has two generations of the Irish O'Brien family playing folk and rock from 14:00, and Can Bernat Vinya in Sant Josep closes the week with flamenco, rumba and sevillanas at 21:00. Las Dalias Hippy Market is open 11:00–18:00, free as always.

Practical Notes

Almost everything above costs nothing, which is the point of October here. For the few that do — Pepe y Vizio at €25, the MARNATON clinic and yoga masterclass at €10 each — book ahead, because autumn capacity is smaller than summer capacity.

Village fiesta programmes shift at short notice, so check the day before for anything in Cala de Bou or La Mola, and free walks and workshops fill fast. Confirm your bus line before setting off; after 21:00 you will want a car or taxi for Sant Josep or Sant Carles. Evenings are cool now, so bring a layer.
