Talamanca: the locals' beach

While tourists fight for a spot at Ses Salines or queue for parking at Cala Conta, we locals escape to Talamanca. This urban beach, just five minutes from Ibiza city centre, is our worst-kept secret.

It's where we come to swim after work, to run in the mornings, or to have dinner with friends over some good fish. The everyday beach, the one we actually use, and that's why we love it so much.

Talamanca is located in the bay that opens to the north of Ibiza city, between the Marina Botafoch sports harbour and Cap Martinet. You can reach it on foot from Dalt Vila in twenty minutes by following the seafront promenade.

A beach with everything you need

Talamanca has almost a kilometre of fine, golden sand, with a gentle and gradual entry into the water. The sea is clean, pleasant and perfect for a quick dip or a longer swim.

What sets Talamanca apart is its urban yet welcoming character. It has a seafront promenade, showers, toilets, lifeguards, and a gastronomic offer that is probably the best of all beaches in Ibiza.

Locals come to Talamanca year-round, not just in summer. A walk along the shore in January, with the winter sun warming your face, is one of the small pleasures of living on this island.

First-class gastronomy

Talamanca's restaurants are one of its greatest attractions. Along the beach there are establishments ranging from simple beach bars to high-level Mediterranean cuisine restaurants.

What they all have in common is that they take advantage of the beachfront location and offer unbeatable views of Ibiza bay with Dalt Vila lit up in the background.

My gastronomic recommendations

  • Baked sea bream with potatoes: the classic Ibizan dish par excellence
  • Grilled prawns with garlic and parsley: simple and perfect
  • Local white wine: pairs with any fish dish
  • Dinner at sunset with the lights of Dalt Vila reflected in the water
  • Breakfast at a beach bar early in the morning: coffee with sea views

More than just a beach

Talamanca is also the favourite place for locals to exercise. Early in the mornings you'll see runners doing intervals along the seafront, swimmers crossing the bay and groups doing yoga on the sand.

An essential walk

The path from Talamanca to Marina along Paseo de la Playa is one of the most pleasant walks in Ibiza. Especially at sunset, when the colours of the sky are reflected in the calm waters of the bay.

Talamanca is not the most beautiful beach in Ibiza, nor the wildest, nor the most photogenic. But it is the most lived-in and most beloved, and the one that best represents how locals enjoy the sea every day of the year.

Practical information

  • How to get there: on foot from Dalt Vila (20 min), by car (5 min), or by bus
  • Parking: along the beach; outside high season there's always space
  • Best time to dine: at sunset, with Dalt Vila lit up in the background
  • Services: seafront promenade, showers, toilets, lifeguard, multiple restaurants
  • Ideal for: al fresco dining, morning exercise, walks, quick swim from the city
  • Distance from the centre: 2 km from the old town, accessible on foot

Come to Talamanca and experience the beach like locals do: without rush, without pretence, with good food and good company.
