Ibiza from the Heights
If conventional water activities leave you wanting more, Ibiza has prepared experiences that elevate you literally above the Mediterranean. Parasailing and flyboard are two of the most spectacular activities you can do on the island, each with its own dose of emotion and unique perspectives.
Imagine floating eighty meters high under a parachute with the entire Sant Antoni bay at your feet, or propelling yourself skyward on pressurized water jets as if you were a superhero. These are the experiences that turn an ordinary vacation into extraordinary memories.
Parasailing: Peaceful Flight with Infinite Views
Parasailing is probably the most accessible way to fly in Ibiza. The mechanics are simple: you're hooked to a parachute connected by cable to a motorboat. As the boat accelerates, the parachute lifts you gently to heights between fifty and eighty meters.
Once up there, the sensation is one of absolute peace: the engine noise fades, the wind surrounds you, and before you unfolds a panoramic view of the Ibizan coast that leaves you speechless. You can see the seabed, distinguish each cove, identify the islets, and on clear days, spot Formentera.
Parasailing Facts
- Flight duration: 10-15 minutes
- Height: 50-80 meters
- Options: solo, couple, or trio
- Minimum age: 6 years (accompanied by adult)
- Total experience: 30-40 minutes (including boat ride)
- Departure points: Sant Antoni, Playa d'en Bossa, Santa Eulària
Flyboard: The Sport of the Future
If parasailing is contemplative flight, flyboard is pure action. This device connects a board under your feet to a high-pressure hose that draws water from the sea and expels it forcefully, propelling you upward to heights of ten to fifteen meters.
Control is achieved through foot inclination and body balance, which requires a few minutes of learning but turns out to be surprisingly intuitive. Once you get the hang of it, you can perform turns, tilts, and even dive like a dolphin before shooting back up into the sky.
Learning Flyboard: The First Minutes
I won't lie to you: the first five minutes of flyboard are a festival of water falls. It's completely normal and part of the fun. The instructor, who controls the jet power from a jet ski, gradually increases the pressure while you learn to maintain balance.
Most people manage to stay airborne steadily in less than ten minutes, and from there the real fun begins.
Tip: Don't try to control the flyboard with force. Relax your legs and let the water jets do the work. The more relaxed you are, the better you'll maintain balance.
Other Water Aerial Activities
Besides parasailing and flyboard, you can try other experiences in Ibiza:
- Hoverboard: a flyboard variant where you glide over the water standing on a powered board
- Jet pack: water propellers on your back for an astronaut-like flying sensation
- Banana boat and inflatables: gentler options, perfect for families with children
- Powered paragliding: flights along the coast up to 300 meters, landing on the beach
Safety and Advice
All these activities are supervised by certified professionals and include mandatory insurance.
