Ibiza's Best Hippy Markets: Las Dalias, Punta Arabí & the Island's Most Magical Weekly Markets

Forget the clubs for a moment — Ibiza's hippy markets are where the island's true soul lives. From Las Dalias in San Carlos to the giant Punta Arabí in Es Canar, here's your insider guide to the best markets on the White Isle.

Ask any local what they love most about Ibiza — really love, beyond the sunsets and the music — and chances are they'll mention market day. There's something about wandering through a maze of stalls piled high with handmade silver rings, swirling Adlib dresses, and incense smoke drifting through old pine trees that feels like the island's true heartbeat.

Ibiza has been a magnet for free spirits since the 1960s, when artists, musicians, and counter-culture pioneers arrived from across Europe and beyond. They brought with them a craft tradition that never left — and today, the island's hippy markets are a glorious living legacy of that bohemian era. Whether you're hunting for a unique piece of jewellery, a hand-thrown ceramic bowl, or simply want to soak in the vibe over a fresh juice, market day in Ibiza is an experience you won't forget.

Las Dalias: The Original Ibiza Hippy Market

If you only make it to one market while you're here, make it Las Dalias. Located in the sleepy village of Sant Carles de Peralta in the northeast of the island, this market has been running since 1985 and remains the heartbeat of Ibiza's artisan scene. Every Saturday, and throughout summer on Sundays too, over 200 stalls fill the lush, flower-strewn grounds of the historic Las Dalias bar and restaurant.

What makes Las Dalias special isn't just the quality of the goods — it's the atmosphere. You'll find Ibizan designers selling one-of-a-kind Adlib fashion (the island's own elegant boho style), alongside healers with crystal collections, artists displaying original paintings, and musicians playing live in the shade of ancient trees. There's a strong sense here that the vendors aren't just selling things — they're sharing a way of life.

Don't miss the Night Market (Mercado Nocturno de Las Dalias) in July and August — a truly magical evening experience where the whole place glows with lanterns and the party goes until midnight. It's one of those only-in-Ibiza moments.

When: Saturdays year-round, 10am–8pm. Summer: also Sundays and night markets in July–August.
Where: Carretera de Sant Carles, km 12, Sant Carles de Peralta.

Punta Arabí: Ibiza's Biggest Hippy Market

Head to the resort village of Es Canar on a Wednesday morning between April and October and you'll find what is arguably the largest hippy market in Europe. Punta Arabí, set in the grounds of the Club Punta Arabí hotel, has been running since 1973 — before many of Ibiza's famous clubs were even a dream — and regularly draws upwards of 20,000 visitors on a busy summer day.

With over 500 stalls spread across a sprawling, shaded site right beside the sea, Punta Arabí is a full-morning experience. Budget at least two to three hours if you want to do it properly. The range is incredible: Rajasthani textiles, Turkish ceramics, Guatemalan bags, African carvings, local Ibizan silver, handmade leather sandals, natural cosmetics, and enough dreamcatchers to fill a small warehouse.

The food section alone is worth the trip — grab a freshly made crepe, a cold freshly-squeezed limonada, or some local honey and jams to take home. The atmosphere is cheerful, multicultural, and wonderfully unhurried. This is Ibiza doing what it does best: bringing people from all over the world together in one beautiful place.

When: Wednesdays, mid-April to end of October, 9am–5pm.
Where: Club Punta Arabí, Es Canar.

More Markets Worth Knowing About

Mercadillo de Sant Jordi

For something more raw and local, head to the Sant Jordi flea market in Ibiza Town, held every Saturday morning at the old hippodrome on the edge of the airport road. This is where the islanders themselves go — you'll find secondhand clothes, old vinyl records, antique furniture, bicycle parts, and plenty of treasures buried under piles of bric-a-brac. It's not glamorous, but it's gloriously authentic and the prices are very fair. Go early (from 8am) for the best finds.

Forada Market & Other Summer Pop-Ups

As the season warms up, pop-up artisan markets appear all over the island — in village squares, on hotel terraces, and at music festivals. Keep an eye on local listings (we update ibiza-calendar.com regularly!) for markets at Santa Gertrudis, Sant Joan, and Santa Eulàlia, where a lovely Sunday market runs along the promenade during summer months.

What to Buy (A Local's Shopping List)

You'll find everything at Ibiza's markets, but if you want to buy something that truly represents the island, here's what to look for:

  • Silver jewellery — Ibiza has a long tradition of working with silver. Look for pieces made by local artisans, often marked with the island's signature sun and moon motifs.
  • Adlib fashion — The island's own style: flowing white linen, embroidered cotton, handmade sandals. A genuine Adlib piece is timeless.
  • Crystals and healing stones — Whether you believe in their power or not, Ibiza's crystal vendors know their craft and the displays are beautiful.
  • Local honey and herbs — Ibiza produces incredible thyme and rosemary honey. Grab a jar to take home; it tastes like the island in summer.
  • Handmade ceramics — Rustic, hand-thrown bowls and plates in earthy Mediterranean tones. Perfect for a terrace table back home.

Insider Tips for Visiting

Go early. The best stalls get the most foot traffic as the morning builds, and vendors are often more chatty and relaxed in the first hour. Plus, in midsummer, it gets very hot by noon.

Bring cash. Most market vendors prefer it, and some accept only cash. There are ATMs nearby but it's smoother to arrive prepared.

Haggling is okay — but gentle. A polite conversation about price is perfectly acceptable, especially if you're buying multiple pieces from one vendor. But don't try to push prices too low — many sellers are independent artisans for whom this is their livelihood.

Drive or arrange a ride. Las Dalias and Punta Arabí aren't easy to reach without a car. Rent a small car or a scooter for the day — you'll want to explore the surrounding countryside anyway.

Ibiza's markets aren't a sideshow to the main event. For many of us who live here, they are the main event — a ritual that marks the rhythm of island life across the seasons. If you visit just once, I promise you'll be planning your next trip around a Saturday at Las Dalias.
