Ibiza Food Events This Week: Soul Food & Blues, a Vineyard Supper and Formentera's Gastronomic Weeks (8-15 October 2026)

Ibiza's food calendar comes alive in mid-October. A free Soul Food & Blues festival with a Chicago bluesman, a traditional charity rice lunch, the final vineyard tasting of the autumn at Bodega Ibizkus and two weeks of set menus on Formentera. Here is where to eat between 8 and 15 October 2026.

Mid-October is when Ibiza starts eating properly again. The summer queues have evaporated, village kitchens are cooking for neighbours rather than for turnover, and the agenda fills with the kind of events that exist for residents rather than for Instagram: a blues festival built around southern American cooking, a charity rice lunch at a roadside restaurant, a wine tasting between the vines at dusk, and two full weeks of set menus across the water on Formentera.

If you are on the island between Thursday 8 and Thursday 15 October 2026, this is the week to eat your way around it. Below are the Ibiza food events worth building a week around, with dates, prices and some honest context on each. Most of them are free to walk into, and nearly all of them are in villages rather than on the coast road.

Soul Food & Blues: Chicago blues and southern cooking at Caló de s'Oli (Mon 12 Oct)

The single best food event of the week is also the strangest on paper. The sixth edition of Soul Food & Blues takes over the open-air grounds of the Auditori Caló de s'Oli in Cala de Bou, pairing the cooking of the American South with the music that grew out of it. This year's bill brings Chicago bluesman Will Jacobs, harmonica player Marcos Coll and island favourites The Soul Connectors.

It starts at around 13:00 on Monday 12 October and it is free. Monday matters here: 12 October is a national holiday in Spain, so the whole of Cala de Bou is already in fiesta mode, the auditorium's outdoor terrace is set up for a long afternoon, and families turn up with children and stay until the light goes. Go hungry, go early enough to get a table in the shade, and bring cash for the food stalls.

If you cannot make the Monday, the same fiestas programme runs a free festival weekend before it — Cala de Bou Express on Saturday 10 October from 13:00, with concerts across the village and a Queen tribute closing the night at the auditorium.

A charity rice feast: arroz de matanzas at Salt & Pepper (Sun 11 Oct)

This is the most genuinely Ibizan plate you can eat this week. Arroz de matanzas is the rice dish traditionally cooked around the autumn pig slaughter — rich, slow, built on pork, rice and whatever the farm had. It belongs to October in a way that almost nothing on a summer menu does.

On Sunday 11 October from 14:00, the restaurant Salt & Pepper in Sant Josep de sa Talaia serves it as a charity lunch, with the band Ace of Hearts playing live through the afternoon. Entry is free and the proceeds from the food go to a local cause. Book ahead if you can — these solidarity lunches fill with regulars, and the island's village restaurants are small.

Wine between the vines: Entre Dos Viñas at Bodega Ibizkus (Wed 14 Oct)

Ibiza makes wine, and does it better than most visitors realise. Bodega Ibizkus has spent this autumn running Entre Dos Viñas, an outdoor tasting set literally between two vineyard plots as the sun drops: five premium wines paired with five gourmet tapas, plus an aperitif, water and soft drinks. It costs €110 per person and reservation is essential.

Wednesday 14 October is the last date of the series, which makes this the week to do it rather than the week to think about doing it. It is not a cheap evening, but it is the only one on this list that gives you an hour of complete quiet, a glass of island monastrell in your hand and nothing but rows of vines between you and the hills.

Formentera's Gastronomic Weeks: two weeks of island menus (12-25 Oct)

From Monday 12 October, restaurants across Formentera run the Setmanes Gastronòmiques — two weeks of fixed-price set menus built around local produce, island fish and traditional recipes. Expect peix sec (the sun-dried fish salad that is Formentera's signature), slow-cooked rices, local figs and almonds, and prices that would be unthinkable in August.

It is the strongest possible reason to make the crossing in October. The ferries from Ibiza Town and Playa d'en Bossa run all day from around €22-€55 return depending on the operator and the speed of the boat, the island is close to empty, and you can combine lunch with the Festes del Pilar de la Mola, which are also under way — including the long-standing Pujada a la Mola climb and the Clàssica de Formentera running race, both on 12 October, if you want to earn your menu first.

Markets and farm mornings: where to shop before you cook

Half the pleasure of an Ibiza October is cooking at home with produce that is actually in season. Three places to do your shopping this weekend:

Mercado de Forada (Saturday 10 October, from 10:00) is the real farmers' market — a small, stubbornly agricultural affair out on the Sant Rafel road, with island vegetables, honey, cheese, bread and the first of the new olive oil. Go before midday.

Saturdays at Juntos Farm in Santa Gertrudis (from 10:00, free) turns the farm over to workshops, tastings and a general air of community. Good with children, better with an empty basket.

Mercadillo de Sant Jordi (Saturday from 08:00) is the island's flea market rather than a food market, but the stalls on the edge sell produce, and it is five minutes from the salt flats if you want to make a morning of it.

Midweek, Hippy Market Punta Arabí in Es Canar runs on Wednesday 14 October from 10:00, and the bars around Es Canar put on live music and craft beer once the stalls pack up.

Two more dinners worth booking

Miso Hungry at Bambuddha (Wednesday 14 October, from 19:00) is the autumn buffet at one of the island's genuinely odd and lovely rooms, out on the Sant Joan road — €48 per adult, €20 for children, with a resident discount. It is a lot of food in a setting that feels nothing like Ibiza.

La Mesa d'Es Vedrà at Petunia (Monday 12 October, from 20:00) does Mediterranean cooking with live music and a view straight at Es Vedrà. Two musical nights a week, and in October you can usually get a table at short notice.

Practical tips for eating out in Ibiza in mid-October

A few things worth knowing before you plan the week. Book, even now. The island has fewer restaurants open than in August, so the ones that are open fill up — especially for Sunday lunch and especially in the villages. Check opening dates, not opening hours. Many kitchens close for the season between mid-October and November, and a place that was open last week may not be this week; a quick call or Instagram check saves a wasted drive.

Drive, or plan around the bus. Almost everything on this list is inland, and village restaurants are not on a bus route. If you are drinking at a vineyard tasting, arrange a taxi in advance — they are scarce after 23:00 in October.

Carry cash. Market stalls, fiesta food stands and charity lunches often do not take cards.

And eat lunch, not dinner. The light in October between 13:00 and 16:00 is the best of the year, the terraces are warm enough to sit outside, and the island's cooking has always suited a long table at midday better than a late one.
