Cala Llenya is a spacious and peaceful beach on Ibiza's east coast. Surrounded by pine forest, it's the perfect refuge for those seeking peace and a swim in crystal-clear waters.

Cala Llenya: the calm of eastern Ibiza

On an island as visited as Ibiza, finding a wide, beautiful and peaceful beach might seem impossible. Yet it exists, and it's called Cala Llenya. Located on the east coast, between Santa Eulària and Sant Carles, this beach is one of those treasures that we Ibicencos hold dear.

It's a place where the forest, the sea and silence remain the main characters. It hasn't yet been consumed by mass tourism.

To get there, take the road from Santa Eulària to Sant Carles and follow the signs. The beach is at the end of a path that winds through a dense pine forest, and the parking is spacious and free: something that's greatly appreciated on Ibiza.

A privileged natural setting

What I love most about Cala Llenya is its surroundings. The beach is completely surrounded by pine and juniper forest, with no buildings or constructions in sight. It's one of the few large beaches in Ibiza where you can look toward the shore and not see concrete.

The stretch of sand is wide and generous, about two hundred metres long. The sand is fine and light golden in colour, with plenty of space to lay your towel without crowding even in the height of August.

The pines reach practically to the sand, offering natural free shade: something that at other Ibiza beaches costs a fortune.

This is the beach I recommend to anyone looking for a day without complications: arrive, park easily, find space without stress, swim in clean water and eat something delicious without breaking the bank. It's simple Ibiza, the Ibiza of always.

A perfect swim

The water at Cala Llenya is clean and transparent, with that trademark turquoise tone of Ibiza. The entry is gentle and sandy, with no rocks or surprises, making it very comfortable for swimming.

In the first few metres the water is shallow, ideal for children to play safely. Further out, the bottom mixes with posidonia (seagrass) zones that shelter countless fish.

East-facing: calm guaranteed

The cove faces east, which means it's protected from westerly and northwesterly winds. The sea here is usually calm, like a millpond. Perfect for swimming laps, floating on your back watching the sky, or simply standing in the water enjoying the Mediterranean.

What to enjoy at Cala Llenya

  • Ibizencan lunch: tomato salad with local cheese, roasted pepper bread and cold white wine
  • Shade under the pines: the best "umbrella" on the island, and free
  • Snorkelling: the posidonia zones are full of fish
  • Walk through the pine forest: the aroma of pine resin mixed with sea breeze
  • Sunset: the sun illuminates the pines from behind and everything turns golden

The charm of simplicity

Cala Llenya has a couple of simple beach bars where you can eat paella, a sandwich or have something refreshing. Don't expect glamour or designer cocktails: the offering here is basic but honest, and that's part of its charm.

Practical information

  • How to get there: Santa Eulària - Sant Carles road, follow signs to Cala Llenya
  • Parking: spacious and free under the pines
  • Best time: all season; even in August there's plenty of space
  • Services: beach bars with simple food, no sunbed rentals
  • Ideal for: families, couples and anyone seeking tranquility
  • Shade: abundant and natural under the pines, no need for an umbrella

At sunset, when the sun illuminates the pines from behind and everything turns golden, you'll understand why those of us who live here never tire of this island.
