Total Solar Eclipse · Ibiza

August 12, 2026 · 20:33 CEST

For the first time in over 120 years, a total solar eclipse will be visible from the Balearic Islands. The Moon will completely cover the Sun for 1 minute and 5 seconds, turning day into night at sunset. The Sun will be just 3° above the western horizon — an extraordinary spectacle over the Mediterranean Sea.

Best Sunset Spots

🌅

Es Vedrà

The iconic rocky islet off Ibiza's southwest coast. Watch the sun sink right beside this mystical landmark from Cala d'Hort beach.

Tip: Arrive 1 hour before sunset to get a good spot on the rocks.
🌅

Café del Mar, Sant Antoni

The birthplace of the Ibiza sunset ritual. Legendary chillout music plays as the sun melts into the sea along Sant Antoni bay.

Tip: Book a table or arrive early — the terrace fills up fast in summer.
🌅

Torre des Savinar

An 18th-century watchtower perched on a cliff with jaw-dropping views of Es Vedrà. The most dramatic sunset viewpoint on the island.

Tip: Wear sturdy shoes — the path involves a 15-minute rocky climb.
🌅

Benirràs

Famous for its Sunday sunset drum circles. Locals and visitors gather on this pebble beach to play drums as the sun sets behind the distinctive Cap Bernat rock.

Tip: Go on a Sunday for the full drum circle experience. Park early!
🌅

Sa Talaia

At 475m, Ibiza's highest point offers a 360° panorama. Watch the sunset paint the entire island in gold from above the clouds on clear evenings.

Tip: Drive up and walk the last 10 minutes. Bring a jacket — it gets windy.
🌅

Dalt Vila

Ibiza's UNESCO-listed old town rises above the harbour. The fortress walls and Cathedral esplanade offer a stunning urban sunset with views over the port and Formentera.

Tip: Walk up through the portal and grab a drink at one of the viewpoint bars.
